The Compass[]
All players automatically have access to a compass that provides the cardinal direction the player is facing and the degree value. You can toggle the compass by pressing V.
When the compass is equipped, the bar at the top of the screen showing the cardinal directions will also show both game and player made markers. While the compass is equipped, the only action players can perform is to shoot their gun in their hands although they cannot ADS. They cannot perform any other actions with any other item in the game until they de-equip their compass.
The Map[]
A small snippet of the in-game 3D map
The In-Game map is a tool unlocked from the Navigation I skill & accessed with the M key.
The Map is shows all areas discovered by the player and is unlocked over time through exploration. Offering many useful features such as the ability to see the location of Global Events, death location, place & edit markers, see player & teammates location & markers, mark structures. All markers are available to be seen on The Compass. The map also allows you to filter & see discovered Points of Interest, any POI can be hovered to see the possible loot types & are colour coded depending on type (residential, military, industrial, ect).
Note: POIs will only be visible after they've been discovered in-game, the only exception to this rule are traders which can be seen from any distance.
In-Game Signage[]
Sign noting the distance to Torpenhow
Another way of navigating is using road signs that appear along the road. This is a useful method of navigation that gives players useful information to aid in the exploration of the map. On these signs, it will display a town or district name with an associated number. The number is the distance remaining to the town in hundreds (for example, 1 denotes 100 metres). So for example "Gas Stop 1" means that a Gas Stop district is 100 metres away if the players continues down the specified path the sign is next to.
